Life Technologies Corp. announces the company has introduced its Applied Biosystems™ AcroMetrix® Quantitative Panels, Plasma Controls and CSF Controls for monitoring the performance of molecular tests designed to detect HSV-1, HSV-2 and VZV.
AcroMetrix® materials are the only quality controls materials made from whole, unaltered virus in either EDTA-based plasma or a liquid matrix similar to cerebrospinal fluid, the company says. This allows for true, full-process control-from extraction through amplification and detection, which effectively mimics patient samples.
Life Technologies also offers AcroMetrix® panels and controls that can monitor tests for CMV, BKV and EBV, for a broad offering for opportunistic agents associated with organ transplantation. All Acrometrix® products are designed to be used with the company's EZValidation™ Online Tool, a rapid and simple method to help laboratories in their verification and validation of molecular tests.
Controls and panels are calibrated against an in-house standard in accordance with ISO 17511 for consistent performance across lots. Quantitative panel concentrations range from 1,000 to 10,000,000 copies/mL. The above-referenced AcroMetrix® Quantitative Panels and CSF Controls products are for Research Use Only. Not intended for human therapeutic or diagnostic use.
